Article: WHERE'S THE
GRACE OF GOD IN YOUR MINISTRY?I
was speaking to one of my disciples in Colombia S.A. this morning and we got
into a discussion of the causes of so much despair and sinful resolutions
that people from all over the globe engage in day to day. He shared some
personal family issues and I made query into the different things I saw when
I last ministered in Colombia. He shared with me the vast number of
under-aged children addicted to drugs, the high amount of prostitution and
even cities known as being a haven for the sex trade. In these times of
financial distress, we find more and more people distressed, desperate and
drowning in their inability to resolve their needs and those, perhaps, of
their families.
I almost cried this morning and that quickly turned
to anger. You know why? Because I went to Colombia to bless the people with
the grace that God gave me to give to the world. The Grace of God: for
educating the masses, for helping them progress from their surrounding norms
to success in education and in life, for liberty from poverty in Spirit and
in mind, to help them forge from what meager surroundings a great nation
blessed by God.
For this task God had sent to me, in New York, a
Christian sister of age and she was impacted by the message and the
resources I had to leave in Colombia (not money, but the means of creating
it). She went to her country and sought the aide of local churches and
ministers to bring my seminars to their region. I went and gave the
teachings to a council of ministers in the Northern region of Colombia and I
also taught in other church-based seminars in other cities. All is good you
say?
Well, during that wonderful time, I identified a group of
Christian workers that I thought would do fine in
establishing in the
country the beginnings of a great work that would improve the education and
financial
standing of not only the Christian, but also the unbeliever
through which the church would have a great
testimony in the eyes of the
public toward faith and salvation.
Immediately, I was confronted by
self interest and division. The wonderful sister in Christ did not want to
"share" leadership with younger and more dynamic workers. The young workers
wanted to separate from their churches and join my ministry. Each other
Christian minister wanted their own place and did not want to work as a team
for the greater good of their fellow countrymen, let alone for the Gospel of
Christ!
I was set back and disgusted at this sight! I was saddened
then and more so even now that the church be so short sighted and selfish to
the point of hindering, if possible, the GRACE of GOD!
The Grace of
God is not exclusive - it is inclusive! We must have all things in common
(you know the
scriptures). Here we have the reason that in the year 2010,
we as a church are still not winning ground
against the enemy of the
souls. He has them in his grasp and tied up in errors, ignorance, and hatred
for the Church of Christ because that same church is only selfish - caring
only for its bottom dollar. It is not sacrificing for the souls: to help its
neighbors, to educate itself to be a better teacher and provider of
helps
and spreader of love to its village, city, region and nation!
I am
so very torn at this moment as I write these lines - I stop every few
sentences to weep. The church that claims to be my brethren pains me so! Is
God likewise put aside? What has happened to His church? What have her
ministers done to her? Where is Christ amongst the nations? Where is His
Church defeating the darkness with His marvelous light? Where is the
phenomenon of the Body of Christ? Where are the councils holding hands and
the brethren supporting one another? Why are there cities, regions and
nations still in the grasp of the enemy? Where is the grace of God in your
ministry? And at minimum, why haven't you partnered with a ministry full of
grace to help your neighbor and city with? Why can't you help a ministry
that has resources that can help you reach your world for Christ? If you be
a grace-filled ministry, then why aren't you sharing that grace with other
churches, small groups and minister laborers who are in the field? The
church is divided and not for good. Join hands with the Spirit and those led
by the Spirit of God! Learn from His teachers, tie into His graces, let it
flow through you to touch others. Look not for your own self interest, but
seek to edify the other, build him up and send him along his way. Let us
help the small church and the poor brother. Let us not be tight fisted and
closed minded. Let us overcome evil with good!
