Article: Professional
leadership is not a right of office. We are not professionals just because
we have a job
title or an office with our name on the door. Professional
leaders are inherently self-confident in
their abilities to fully
exercise their knowledge which includes the skills to effectively address
and
meet any of their followers issues, shortcomings and needs in
comprehension. The professional is one who "professes" or speaks in favor of
a particular ideal or philosophy. The leader is totally dedicated to
his
or her professing, creating work product, venues, communication,
instruction, structures and policy
that formulates, impacts, changes,
and forms the basic construct of Corporate or organizational culture.
The professional leader is the embodiment of what the organization is or
is to become and he or she
is constant in the establishment and
promulgation of the model throughout the organization. The church
needs
leaders who will establish the pattern - and that pattern must be that of
Christ. But we too,
as Christ did, must become standards to our
organizations of the Christ in man and of the particular
ministry that
God has placed in our souls to fulfill.
Christ has given the church
all that it needs to be the head and not the tail - "And hath put all things
under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church"
Ephesians 1:22 And if we be
the head over all things, then it behooves us
to be a better head than anyone else! What this involves
is being more
expert and knowledgeable concerning all matters than he that is in the
world!
Why should secular businessmen and politicians be more
professional and be more respected than the
church minister? Where was
it that we were supposed to portray humbleness to the world? The Bible
doesn't tell us that we must show humility - it says we must be humble. And
being humble does not mean that we do not wash our face while fasting! He
that hath an hear, let him hear!
Ministers of all types have used
this "humility clause" to huddle beneath to cover their own lacking in
knowledge, proficiency, ability, skill, wisdom and grace! This is not
humility - this is a dis-grace!
Grace is what God did to save us. It
involves every part of the process, including the structure of
the church
with its leaders and ministries. God did and is doing His part with
excellence - why aren't we? Why are we justifying our lack of
education? Why do we justify our lack of wisdom and judgment (blaming the
believing church member)? Why do we justify our lack of grace by saying that
the church is lacking in prayer? Why do we sit by and turn a blind eye to
the many shepherds who have shamed the church by submitting to the flesh in
lieu of God's spiritual grace? Then too, where are the experts of Christ's
flock ready and capable of helping the fallen leaders in this, the church's
hour of need? (And I speak here to the worldwide church bearing the name of
Christ). It doesn't matter that we excel in religious speech and theology
when the church is suffering in all other areas of knowledge! So you have a
degree in theology! So then help the church's leaders resolve issues of the
flesh. Give the world a solution to their problems that they can grasp on to
and see it working in their day to day.
We have so many doctors of
ministry & theology yet the world does not look to them for any solutions to
their needs. So many music ministers, yet the world's musicians do not look
to them for inspiration -
how could they, it is they to whom our church
musicians look after to imitate in our holy places! When
has a church
musician developed a new genre of music that the world envy to emulate?
Rather the church altar is full of music created by drunkards, whoremongers
and drug addicts - "yeah man"!!!
The church has the greatest power,
wisdom and knowledge granted to it to solve the world's problems and we just
sit there saying, "it's Jesus". But we forget that Jesus healed the sick and
the blind. People
came to him seeking advice, instruction, guidance and
help. What do people look for you for? Prayer?
Sunday Sermonette? Some
counseling that ends with, "let's pray about it"? A doctor does not tell his
patient, "let's pray about it"! He does what he professes: he doctors. He
has knowledge and expertise
in solving our physical pains. Are we not
greater than he? Do not our patients live for ever - while
his die? We
heal for life. He heals to death!
Beloved, we must assume the
calling in its entirety in order to be efficient and effective in the
vocation
we have obediently followed. we must not allow for inferior
thinking and lack of knowledge. We must
not disable God's grace in us so,
that the grace left to filter out to souls is barely enough for them to
see the light! We must fix ourselves and allow for the full grace of God to
be effective through us and not
mask it with our clay vessels of
humility. Let the vessel shatter and let His light and grace shew forth
majestically, magnificently, abundantly and, yes, professionally!
